1 Peter 1:1-9

Our Advent series is filled with tension: Jesus came to bring hope, but we can still feel hopeless. The Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil, but we still see the devil’s handiwork all over our world. The angels proclaimed peace on earth at Jesus’s birth, but peace seems elusive to us. What does it mean to believe that Jesus brought all these things to us, but to acknowledge that our experience of them is stunted and broken?  We can start with acknowledging that we are living between D-Day and V-Day.
