FORT FAMILY SPOTLIGHT
Welcome to the latest addition of our Fort Family Spotlight. The Fort Family Spotlight is a great way to touch base with our Fort Families and Friends, to see what they have been up to and to visit some of their own family highlights, challenges and blessings. Every week we will be highlighting two families or individuals on how they have been changed during these past months, any highlights or events that have impacted them and what prayers they are asking for. This will help our Fort Family Church keep in touch during this time when we all can't gather together. If you would love to participate, and for some reason, you were not contacted, please email or phone the church office and we would love to get in touch and receive your input. |

THE JOHNSON FAMILY
Is there anything that has changed for you during Covid? "As we have several people in our family with risk factors we’ve been quite reclusive, only socializing with our immediate family. We’re very careful about bringing stuff in from stores, cleaning things etc. In the spring Amanda and Norma helped Olivia with some of her ‘homeschooling’, and are now helping Sarah with both the children. Nathanael is working up north at present and visits when able, thankfully we live as a multi-generational family. Norma had to give up volunteering at LMH, Michael’s tennis was interrupted, and after 6 months Amanda is finally able to return to the therapeutic stable but under very strict protocols. We are sorely missing meeting with the church family." How have you been spending your time in this season? "Amanda and Norma set up the FLEFC Ladies Connect fb group and study from Right Now Media. We’ve done some maintenance, gardening and sorting out at home. Michael is writing novels. We read lots, painted rocks and watched old TV shows with Olivia, and took lots of walks in the summer." Any highlights for you this season? "Spending more time with our family, especially seeing Olivia and Penny grow in their abilities. Re-evaluating priorities, Enjoying God’s beautiful creation." Is there a passage or truth about God that you found helpful and relied upon? “Lean not unto your own understanding”, Prov. Ch3 v5. These are confusing and upsetting times. To have faith that our loving God is always present, all knowing, omnipotent, gives us comfort and security." How can the church family pray for you? "That Nathanael will be transferred back here to his family. Continued health, safety, and reliance on God’s Word for us all." ~ Michael & Norma Johnson |

THE DEEN FAMILY
Is there anything that has changed for you during Covid? "Much has changed. We love to gather and when the summer weather was here that took the form of backyard bbq’s or pizza suppers with friends. Now we savour time with folks on walks or wet park visits. We miss the ‘around the table’ hospitality, but feel like we’ve gotten creative with neighbours and friends- sometimes sitting on lawn chairs 6 feet apart in the garage just so we can be together!" How have you been spending your time in this season? "We took down a shed in our backyard at the beginning of COVID! It really needed to happen! Kev built raised garden boxes that housed a bounty of kale this past summer! Kale salad, smoothies, soups! We do walks twice a day and love growing relationships with our neighbours! And we had another baby, Halle, so we spend a lot of our time snuggling with her and playing Little People with Addy." Any highlights for you this season? "Big highlight for Kev and I had been watching our two girls grow and learn. Addy has picked up on so many words! Halle is delighted to coo and smile when she gets your undivided attention. We’ve also been so blessed by friendship with Tash, Boppy and The Bergen Family :) They’ve embraced us as family and it’s meant the world!" Is there a passage or truth about God that you found helpful and relied upon? "Kev has been memorizing Psalm 46. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. I’ve been enjoying reading My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. The Lord keeps refocusing my gaze. I’m humbled by how much head space I give things of this world. But our God is so much greater!" How can the church family pray for you? "Please pray that our family would be missional in the way we live in our cul-de-sac! We feel God has opened up friendships and opportunities to share the good news of Christ! We need to be courageous and make the most of them! Also pray for a family we’ve connected with through the Moms and Tots group. They are not believers but they’ve shown interest in listening to the sermons online." ~ Kevin & Lissa |
