Thank you for your participation in our summer survey. We were very encouraged by the amount of participation, particularly since it was during the summer season.
We're thankful for affirmation of what God has been doing in and through the church, including the home church services. We were humbled and grateful to see expressions of your strong sense of commitment to God and the church!
1) In response to your feedback, we are exploring how to continue to develop and improve what we aredoing online for home church, to help you engage with God’s word and worship, and with some sense of community.
2) About half of our respondents are interested in gathering in-person on Sundays, in accordance with government allowances and safety protocols. It is our intention to move this direction with those interested. But we are committed to doing so only in a way that doesn’t compromise the safety of others, or our commitment to being a positive witness.
3) Our survey also reflected a great interest in life groups: 3 out of every 4 respondents expressed a desire for life group involvement. That’s amazing. This can happen online or in-person. We will be looking to you all for large or outdoor spaces for meeting safely. We’ll also begin to determine will be involved in life groups through leading or attending (in-person or online).
4) We are in the process of developing ministry plans and updating safety protocols in the areas of Youth and Children’s ministries. (Home church, Sunday mornings, youth nights, AWANA, family events.) We want to continue to prioritize Christian community and discipleship of our children, youth and their families in this season. But as we're currently seeing across BC and the world, rising COVID-19 cases are reminding us of the need to proceed with wisdom and caution in these areas. Children’s ministry provides particular challenges as it regards social distancing and safety management, and Mary Ann is providing interim leadership to this area.
We want to keep September a time when you are free to focus your attention on settling into school, and making other big decisions. There's a lot for you to discern, and the constantly changing COVID-19 situation demands consistently changing responses from you.
September will be a time that FLEFC staff and leadership use to: - assess what is happenening around us, - develop our online services/connections, - plan to move safely toward in-person gatherings for those who desire that community.
We’d love your prayers.
