P A S S A G E : Philippians 4:14-20
T I T L E : The Ministry of Receiving
This Sunday we celebrate our communion with the shed blood and broken body of Jesus, Christ. (1 Cor.10:16): our radical identification with Christ crucified for our sins, that we might have life more abundantly/fruitfully.
Let us prepare by reading 1 Corinthians 11:23-32, examining ourselves in the light of God's incisive Word for us, and having the elements of communion ready.
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.
See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Seeking God, Growth and Good in the Summertime
Our SUMMER SEEKING opportunities are ways of Seeking God, Seeking Growth and Seeking Good- organically, and intentionally! We are feeling the effects of not gathering, and with any summer comes some slowing down of scheduled programs and activities. Here are some ways to meaningfully seek together over the summer months:
EXPAND YOUR BUBBLE!
Home Church with Others
Just because we cannot gather as one large group, it doesn't mean we cannot gather at all. This is a season to look a little more like the early church: meeting in households with one another! This isn't a "second best" experience. There are opportunities for growth and connections that can't happen in the larger gathering!
HERE TO HELP
This is a season for us to take care of one another and our community. May we grow and flourish in what it means to do "one anothering" well at this time, and may this include a growing comfort to reach out to one another in our time of need so we can love, serve, encourage, and otherwise care for one another and for the needs of other neighbours.
In this season of drastic changes, the church continues to live out God's mission for us. We are finding and taking incredible opportunities to Seek God, Seek Growth, and Seek Good for our neighbours. We ask you to prayerfully consider what faithful giving and worshipful stewardship looks like in this season!

PRAYER & PRAISE
Please pray for one another, as all of us are affected in this season. But remember that we affected differently. Is I've heard it put a few times: We're all in the same storm, but in different boats. Pray for those who are sick, those who are in quarantine, and those whose job situations are affected by COVID-19. Pray for the lonely and the anxious, for front line workers and for others who are bearing added responsibility in this season.
Continue to pray for our office administrator Alana Hall, as she receives treatment for her sarcoidosis. The recovery process will take her through the summer. We're asking for healing and restoration from a condition that affects both lungs and heart.
Pray for Art and Tracey Kleingeltink's son-in-law Jeremiah, and his family, as Jeremiah is battling stage 4 cancer. Pray for a miraculous healing. Pray for supernatural peace and joy for Jeremiah, his wife Jessica and their son Kaius as they walk through this together with Jesus.
STAFF: Please pray for Pastor Jason, Brittany, Lindy, Mary Ann and Alana, whose roles all look very different at this time. Pray for the process of discernment around having a second pastor join the team.
FLEFC BOARD: Ralph Wyatt, Travis Finlayson, Kevin Deen, Dameon Lorensen, Ruthann Robinson, Carol Hofer and Jason Lavergne: Pray for the Lord to identify and provide a board chair for this team. Pray for wisdom and direction as the board discerns next steps in the COVID-19 season, and formulates re-gathering plans for staff, volunteers, and the rest of the church family.
Please remember our Elders: Ralph Wyatt, Moe Johnson, Miriam Schnee & Ruth Leis: Please pray the team would be sensitive to and aware of those who would benefit from encouragement, a visit, and prayer.
MISSIONARY FOCUS THIS WEEK
Port of Hope Ministries – Pray for Phil DuFrene as he and his ministry adjust with the significant changes. Pray for Phil as he builds their "International Chat" website to reach and support seafarers that are farther away and who are looking for resources and ways to stay connected. Pray for the ministry as they continue to adapt the ways to carry out their vision, "to demonstrate the love and compassion of Jesus Christ as we serve the emotional and spiritual needs of seafarers", even while borders are closed and much of the connection is online. Pray for ready hearts that want to hear about Jesus.
Pray that God would continue to guide Bill Taylor (Executive Director) and his leadership team with clear direction, discernment and understanding in this COVID season for God’s vision and direction in the Free Church Movement. Pray for the entire Home Office Team in the many tasks that they do to support all our EFCC missionaries.
