Hello Church Family,
We can all agree that "church" looks very different right now! Especially in a season where much feels uncertain, it is all more important to embrace practices that remind us of truth that is certain and unchanging. One practice that does this is Communion! On the first Sunday of every month, we have traditionally participated in taking the bread and cup together in order to examine our hearts, to remember and to give thanks for the redemption and salvation we have in Jesus Christ - through his life, death, and resurrection.
This Sunday, we are asking that each household or individual come to your time online with bread and wine (or juice), to eat and drink together in remembrance of Jesus. To give thanks, turning our attention away from what we lack and towards God in gratitude.
In taking Communion, feel free to either do this with your family or together as part of our broader church family, with Jason leading us through at the end of his sermon.
If you choose to partake as a family, we invite you to pause that portion of the sermon, spend a few minutes sharing what you are grateful for, then have a leader pray and take the elements together after reading 1 Corinthians 11:17-29. If you are living alone, you can still do this by connecting online with a friend or loved one!
However you choose to do this, be sure to have the elements prepared before you for when the time comes.
Looking forward to worshipping and partaking in this sacrament with you all this Sunday!
