Sermon on the Mount: The Way of Jesus
This week:
A Light Unwasted
Passage: Matthew 5:14-16
 Pastor Jason

Creation Care
Big Idea: God cares about all of his creation.

Remember last week’s God Story was about Noah’s ark. Today’s story takes place right after the great flood. God makes a special promise to Noah’s family and all living creatures on the earth. God places a sign of his promise in the sky. It’s a reminder that God cares about all his creation.

Look up in your bibles Genesis 9:8–16 and read about God’s covenant (Answers below)
1) What was God’s promise?
2) What sign did God put in the sky as a reminder of his promise?
3) What are some things we could do to care for God’s creation?
If possible, look outdoors or if it isn’t possible, pretend you’re sitting in a grassy field or on a sandy beach. Look up  Psalm 8:1 says: “O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens.” (NLT)
This verse means that the beauty and power of God fills the whole earth for us to see, hear, and feel. Sit quietly and use their senses to see, hear, smell, and feel what is all around them.

Memory Verse:  "God, see what is in my heart. Know what is there. Test me. Know what I’m thinking. See if there’s anything in my life you don’t like. Help me live in the way that is always right."  Psalm 139:23-24, NiRV

Pray, “Thank you, God, for the chance to reflect on the beauty of your creation. Please help me to care for the amazing earth you made. I love you! Amen"

1) What was God’s promise? (Never to cover the earth with a flood again)
2) What sign did God put in the sky as a reminder of his promise? (A rainbow)
