May Series: ACTS | Radical

SCRIPTURE: Acts 9:1-19, Acts 9:19b-31, Acts 13:1-3, Acts 13:4-12, Acts 14:1-7
Radical can mean awesome and amazing. It can also mean something that has an impact so intense that it affects the very root of the thing. The triune God has a radical impact in our lives—so awesome and amazing—that it changes us at our very core. And that's radical.

BIG IDEA: God uses Christ-followers in radical ways.
Ananias and Saul

Key Verse “When anyone lives in Christ, the new creation has come. The old is gone! The new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

What do you think the word “radical” means? Describe a series of events. Kids will choose the number they think best represents how radical it is: 1 = not radical at all and 5 = very radical! Read the following scenarios, pausing after each one for the kids to vote by number: • An exploding volcano affects everything surrounding it. How radical is the impact of a volcano? • Putting your clothes in the laundry will make your room much tidier (and less smelly!). How radical is putting clothes in the laundry? • Cleaning up litter on beaches and in parks can drastically improve the habitats of birds, animals, and insects. How radical is the impact of picking up garbage? • Being kind to other people can have a huge impact on how they feel. How radical is being kind?
• Jesus healed the sick, made blind people see, and even raised people from the dead! How radical is the power of Jesus?

Remember that God uses Christ-followers in radical ways. That means God can use each of us in amazing ways when we follow Jesus!

Have you ever felt that God was using you in some way? If so, what happened?

In today’s God Story, a man named Saul has a radical, life-changing encounter with Jesus. It changes Saul’s heart and the way he lives. Another man, Ananias, also hears the Lord speak and is given an important message for Saul.

Look up in your bibles and read Acts 9:1–19.
