Summer Seeking.

Our SUMMER SEEKING opportunities are ways of Seeking God, Seeking Growth and Seeking Goo- organically, and intentionally.
1) LetterS from Lockdown
2) Reappearing Church

    Message:  Romans 13, 1 Peter 2, Matthew 5
     Speaker:  Pastor Jason
Meeting, Masks & Miles

Why not giving up meeting together matters during COVID-19
Does Online Church Violate Hebrews 10:25?
Amid Coronavirus Pandemic: A theology for not assembling

1) Read Romans 13:1-6 and 1 Peter 2:13-17. Discuss what words, phrases and ideas stand out to you?

2) Our Culture Statement:
Seeking God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.
Seeking Growth in closeness and conformity to Christ by the Holy Spirit.
Seeking Good for our neighbours through good works and the gospel.
How do the passages we looked at today (in Romans 13, 1 Peter 2, and Matthew 5:41) guide us in each of these?

3) And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.  Matthew 5:41

When we undertand the context of this quote, we realize that it completely shattered the expectations and understandings of Jesus' audience about personal rights, submission the authority, and exhibiting an astounding level of service toward others.

Discuss the power of these words in our context today, which is characterized by: a focus on personal freedom, political diviseness, and governmental leadership that doesn't adhere itself to God's authority.

What does practicing Matthew 5:41 look like for us? How does living out Matthew 5:41 point people to Jesus?

4) Discuss how to practically apply today's passages to how we can or should navigate the COVID-19 season. (This can regard meeting, masks, or anything else...)

Summer Sundays 2020 for Kids- Today August 9th

Hello, kids!  We still needfully continue with kids Sunday messages on line and recall that for a final Sunday we turn attention to the life, work and messages of Jesus in the life of the apostle Paul.

Learning from Paul’s life links up kids’ learning with that of our church family- and yes, your moms and dads, too! Day by day and week by week as families are encouraged to read through Paul’s prison letters (Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon) we can learn how God spoke to Paul and how Paul addressed the churches- then and now!

These Summer Sundays we already have seen how God called Saul to be gospel sharing Paul, learned that Paul ‘hit the road’ in mission and how when in jail, Paul joined his friend Silas in singing and praising God, how Paul’s faith made all the difference during a sea storm and shipwreck. Today we will learn a final story about Paul.

Clicking on the YouTube link below, you will find this week’s creative and fun spirited kid to kid video teaching through the wonderful on line ministry of Pursue God Kids.  Thanks to all of the smiling kid actors and storytellers, you can enjoy today’s brief but strong video sharing right from God’s Word. Today’s video is called PAUL IN ROME. Though still in chains, we find Paul in yet another faith adventure and here are things you can chat about at home after you have a look:

* What’s the biggest city you have ever visited? What did you get to do there?

* Rome was likely the biggest city Paul visited.  What did he do there?

* Paul was in chains or a prisoner for his faith when in Rome.  Did that stop him from telling others about Jesus? Why not?

  • Remember that Paul wrote 4 letters while in prison: Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon.  Have you been reading any of these books of the Bible on you own or with your family? What have you been learning about Jesus from Paul in any of these letters? Anything beautiful or powerful about Jesus?

*Did you catch the memory verse? It’s a great way for us to live. If not, go back and check it out.  It is found in 1 Peter 3:15 and is worth learning.

*What is a reason you have for believing in the beautiful Person of Jesus?

* What is a hope that you have because of your belief in the powerful work of Jesus?

*With whom can you share your reason for believing and hope you have in the beautiful and powerful name of Jesus?

After that, stay tuned and click again for a kids worship video! It’s a musical reminder from Hillsong Kids called WHAT A BEAUTIFUL NAME that no matter where we are- in a busy city, indoors with the family, out and about among people we might not know so well or with those who love us, whether right in our own backyard or free and out exploring and camping in God’s summertime creation with friends like the kids in this sweet, tenderly filmed video, we indeed have those with whom we can share our reasons for and hope we have in beautiful and powerful Jesus. I will not stop loving and missing you. That doesn’t change. We worship a beautiful Lord, kids. We really do! I will thank Him always for beautiful kids like YOU!

-Mrs. Lindy

This is a familiar song for most, but here’s the words to the song if you want to use them to praise Him!

You were the Word at the beginning

One With God the Lord Most High

Your hidden glory in creation

Now revealed in You our Christ

What a beautiful Name it is

What a beautiful Name it is

The Name of Jesus Christ my King

What a beautiful Name it is

Nothing compares to this

What a beautiful Name it is

The Name of Jesus

You didn't want heaven without us

So Jesus, You brought heaven down

My sin was great, Your love was greater

What could separate us now?

What a wonderful Name it is

What a wonderful Name it is

The Name of Jesus Christ my King

What a wonderful Name it is

Nothing compares to this

What a wonderful Name it is

The Name of Jesus

What a wonderful Name it is

The Name of Jesus

Death could not hold You, the veil tore before You

You silenced the boast, of sin and grave

The heavens are roaring, the praise of Your glory

For You are raised to life again

You have no rival, You have no equal

Now and forever, God you reign

Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the glory

Yours is the Name, above all names

What a powerful Name it is

What a powerful Name it is

The Name of Jesus Christ my King

What a powerful Name it is

Nothing can stand against

What a powerful Name it is

The Name of Jesus

This month, we are encouraging you to continue with the Reach Out FLAG initiative for the duration of this COVID season. In addition to checking in with others, let us be intentional in our prayer.

This FLAG initiative is inspired by Philippians 1:8-11!
Intercessory prayer is one place where our heart for God and heart for others meet in a wonderful way. It's humbling to know that someone is praying for you, and it can be a huge encouragement to know what they are praying for you. Write-and-Send your prayer for someone to them by mail, email, text, WhatsApp or other social media!

This is a season for us to take care of one another and our community. May we grow and flourish in what it means to do "one anothering" well at this time, and may this include a growing comfort to reach out to one another in our time of need so we can love, serve, encourage, and otherwise care for one another.  If you are not sure where to start, or who to talk to contact us through [email protected]

Expand Your Bubble!

Expand Your Bubble!

Just because we cannot gather as one large group, it doesn't mean we cannot gather at all. This is a season to look a little more like the early church: meeting in households with one another! This isn't a "second best" experience. There are opportunities for growth and connections that can't happen in the larger gathering!

If you can make some of the FLEFC family a part of your carefully expanded bubble, then we encourage you to meet with them Sundays. If your home allows you you the space to meet in a socially distanced manner, you can have a gathering of up to six even with those outside your bubble. We only encourage this if it can be done according to provincial guidelines and protocols!

In this season of drastic changes, the church continues to live out God's mission for us. We are finding and taking incredible opportunities to Seek God, Seek Growth and Seek Good for our neighbours. We ask you to prayerfully consider what faithful giving and worshipful stewardship look like in this season!
